Authors and Founder Scholarship

The Authors and Founder Scholarship has been established in honor of the Authors of the games used in the National Academic Games Tournament, Robert W. Allen (LinguiSHTIK®®, PROPAGANDA®®, and PRESIDENTS®) and Layman E. Allen (EQUATIONS®, ON-SETS®, and WFF 'N PROOF®®) and the Founder of the National Academic Games Tournament, Robert W. Allen. This scholarship is funded from contributions made by the friends and family of Layman E. Allen, Professor of Law and Senior Research Scientist, University of Michigan, on the occasion of and in celebration of his 75th birthday.

National Academic Games was very pleased and proud to award the first Authors and Founder Scholarship during the 2003 National Academic Games Tournament at Eatonton, Georgia to the Senior player who had the highest individual ranking in the games of LinguiSHTIK®® & EQUATIONS®. The 2004 Recipient of the Authors and Founder Scholarship was James Kelly III from Cass Technical in Detroit, Michigan. He is pictured to the left with Layman Allen and one of his coaches, Maurice El-Amin.
In 2005, two young ladies tied for the Authors and Founder Scholarship and decided to split the award rather than play off against one another.
